Driver Requirements:  

  • ID and Driving Licence: Upon pick-up / delivery of the car, driver(s) MUST produce a valid Passport and Driving Licence. The driver(s) must be in possession of a valid driving licence for a minimum of 3 years before the date of the commencement of the rental. Driving licence must be for manual transmission vehicle unless an automatic vehicle has been requested.
  • Minimum rental age is 23 years old:  A Young Driver Fee of 10 GBP per day applies to drivers aged between 23-25 years, with a maximum of 100 GBP per rental.
  • Maximum rental age is 80 years old:  A Senior Driver Fee of 7 GBP per day applies to drivers aged between 75-80 years, with a maximum of 100 GBP per rental. 
  • Driver: Only the registered driver(s) can drive the car.
  • Additional Drivers:  There is no extra charge for the second driver. An Additional Driver Fee of 3 GBP applies to the 3rd driver. Please note, that maximum number of drivers per booking is 3.

 

Rental Period

The Rental Period starts on the date and time indicated on the Rental Agreement and ends on the indicated date and time.

The minimum rental period is 1 day (based on a 24 hour period, returning the car before 10am). For short rental period additional fee may apply.   

If you return the vehicle before the end of the rental period then both the rental period and the Agreement will end upon vehicle's return. No refund can be offered for early returns under any circumstances.

 

Extending Rental Period

Should you wish to extend your rental period, please contact British Rent A Car via e-mail or over the phone at least 48 hours prior to the expiry of the rental period. We will aim to honour your request but we are unable to guarantee extensions during busy periods.

 

Deposit

No deposit is required at the time of booking confirmation.

 

Rates include:  unlimited mileage, VAT Local Tax (5%), Road Tax, airport surcharge for the bookings of 7 days and more, roadside assistance, out-of-hours service, second driver.

 

Payment Policy

Customers will be required to pay the full amount of the rental upon delivery / pick-up.

The following major credit cards are accepted: VISA, MasterCard. We do not accept AMEX. Payment by card will incur a 3% bank commission charge.

Cash payments are accepted in GBP, Turkish Lira, Euros, USD. 
 

Fuel Policy

To avoid any additional charges please return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as collected or choose a prearranged fuel option at the rate of  20 GBP.

For Ercan airport and other long-distance deliveries, a mandatory Fuel Fee of 20 GBP, payable upon delivery, applies. Please note, that in case of prearranged fuel you may return the car with empty fuel tank.   

No refund will be made for any petrol in the tank when the vehicle is returned to British Rent A Car at the end of the rental period.

 

Parking / Traffic Rules and Penalties

The driver (s) must observe the Road Traffic Law, Rules and Regulations. While driving seat belts must be fastened by the driver and all vehicle passengers. The driver will be liable for any parking and traffic penalties incurred.

British Rent A Car will not accept any bill (including bills for any repairs made by the Renter).

 

Accidents

In case of any accident, including theft, fire, loss or any damage to the vehicle: please contact the Police IMMEDIATELY to complete an accident report PRIOR to moving the vehicle from the scene of accident, otherwise the insurance cover may be reduced. Immediately after contacting the Police please call British Rent A Car on +90 533 851 73 48.

 

Cross Border Policy

Vehicles are NOT allowed to travel outside of Northern Cyprus as the Insurance Company do not offer any cover and the Owner will not be able to offer the Renter any support there both in case of breakdown or accident. The Owner has the right to claim from the Renter any amount to cover the damages caused outside Northern Cyprus.

Should the Renter wish to visit South Cyprus, a taxi service can be arranged upon request for additional charge.
 

Changes & Cancellations

No fee is applies to any changes or cancellations, but please email [email protected] at least 48 hours prior to the start of the rental period should you wish to amend or cancel your reservation.

 

Late Returns

Please inform British Rent A Car if there is any delay in returning the car you hired. Cars returned later than 3 hours after the expiry of the Rental Agreement will be charged for an extra day.


Returns outside business hours

In case the Renter returns the vehicle outside our business hours we will inspect the vehicle after the end of the Rental Agreement. Please note, that until this inspection has been completed any loss, damage or theft remains the responsibility of the Renter. 
  

Excess 

Under the terms of the insurance excess liability for loss or damage will be limited to the first 500 GBP of any claim. In the event of damage being the fault of the Renter he(she) will pay only the amount to rectify the damage up to the maximum amount specified here. For damage incurred by the fault of another motorist there will be no excess to pay. Please note, that the liability is limited to the mentioned excess amount provided the driver is not intoxicated or under the influence of drugs; is not exceeding the legal speed limits; and if an on-site police traffic accident report is submitted. 

 

Collision Damage Waiver (optional) 

The Renter may wish to waive the excess of 500 GBP by purchasing the policy for CDW at the additional cost of 10 GBP per day. The policy will only operate if the driver: is not intoxicated or under the influence of drugs; is not exceeding the legal speed limits; and if an on-site police traffic accident report is submitted. The limitation of the amount of excess afforded by the purchase of the CDW depends entirely on the satisfaction of the terms set out above. No claim will be valid without an on-site police traffic accident report.

CDW covers the bodywork of the car and the engine.

CDW does not cover winshield, windows, mirrors, headlights, wheels and tyres, undercarriage, interior of the car, battery failure, personal belongings, lost or broken keys, any damages to additional equipment such as GPS, child seats or towing charges.

 

Extra Insurance (recommended) 

The Renter may wish to have an Extra Insurance Coverage to cover windshield and tyres at the additional cost of 10 GBP per day. The policy will only operate if the driver is not intoxicated or under the influence of drugs; is not exceeding the legal speed limits; and if an on-site police traffic accident report is submitted.


Roadside Assistance:  24/7 free emergency roadside assistance is provided in the following situations: road accident involving a rental car, battery failure, flat tyre, unlocking of a locked car.

 

Renter Responsibilities

The Renter agrees to abide by all Terms and Conditions set forth herein.

The Renter agrees at all times to drive the hired vehicle with every proper care and attention and to observe the official road traffic regulations.

The Renter is obliged to check the oil level, water and tyres upon car pick-up / delivery and keep them at the required levels throughout the rental period.

The Renter shall keep the vehicle in good condition, ordinary wear and tear exempted, and will return the vehicle with all tools and accessories in the same condition as when received. The condition of the vehicle is recorded by the Owner and accepted by the Renter upon signing the Rental Agreement.

The acceptance of the vehicle at the end of the rental period is not undisputed evidence of its good working condition and full complement of the tools and accessories.

The Renter shall immediately inform the Owner of any loss or damage to, or fault in the vehicle and will return the vehicle while it is in an un-roadworthy condition or liable to cause damage to any person or property. The vehicle should be used only for private use and to carry the number of passengers according to the seating.

The Renter shall be responsible for any damage and injury which is not specifically mentioned in the Rental Agreement or insurance policy including bodily injuries sustained by the driver and/or passengers.

Without prior written consent of the Owner the Renter shall not under-let the vehicle or suffer it to be driven or otherwise interfered with by anybody other than the Renter himself, who shall at all times remain liable to the Owner for any damage and shall indemnify the Owner against any claim or damage resulting from such unauthorised use or interference or from any lack of care, negligence or violation of the law and regulations and will also be bound to pay 15 GBP to the Owner for each day up to and including the day of the full repair of the vehicle.

Breach of any of the conditions contained in the Rental Agreement by the Renter will render the Agreement terminated thus giving the Owner the right to demand the immediate return of the vehicle.

The parties are bound by all conditions set out in the Rental Agreement. Should any action be filed in any court, then the defaulting party will have to pay all the expenses incurred thereby.

By signing the Rental Agreement, the Renter and driver(s) acknowledge that they have read, accepted and agreed to observe by all terms and conditions as stated in the Terms & Conditions of the Rental Agreement.

 

BRITISH RENT A CAR reserves the right to alter conditions of rental, information and vehicle type without prior notice where necessary.
